Pinhawk On-Lock Armlock Putter Head

Some companies will take a regular putter head and try to adapt it to the armlock method and call it good, but this is irresponsible marketing. For the armlock putting method you need a putter head that has more loft than a traditional one, because of the angle of the shaft when the arm is “locked in”. We have found that 7 degrees is the ideal loft, and that is the spec on the Pinhawk On Lock. A true armlock putter head also needs to weigh more than a traditional head. A heavier head has been found to be beneficial for a fluid and consistent stroke in armlock putters. An armlock putter is longer than a traditional putter because the butt end of the putter should rest on your forearm approximately 2 inches below the crease in your elbow. The easiest way to find your armlock length would be to take your traditional putter, assume your comfortable, regular putting position, turn the butt end of the putter against your wrist area, and measure from the butt end of your traditional putter to approximately 2 inches below the crease of your elbow. Add this measurement to the length of your current putter. For example, if your traditional putter is 34” long, and you measure from the butt end of that putter to 2 inches below your elbow crease, and this measurement is 6”, your armlock putter length should be 40”. When you build the putter, if the butt end of your armlock putter is anywhere from 1” to 3” below your elbow crease in your normal putting position, you are good to go.
